היצירה עבורי היא דרך לתת מקום ובמה לתופעות שמרגשות אותי. היא צורך בסיסי, כמו תנועה, דיבור או שיחה עם מישהו קרוב.

כשאני נעה בעולם, אני אוספת צורות שמפעילות אותי רגשית – מבנים, מקצבים, צללים וריצודים. הם נטמעים בי והופכים לחלק ממני, ורק אחר כך אני משחררת אותם החוצה ביצירה חדשה, במדיום אחר. ההתבוננות בתופעות שהן תוצר של תהליכים בטבע, וההבנה שלהן, מעניקות לי תחושת שייכות – לחיים עצמם, לזרימת החומרים, ולזמניות שהיא חלק בלתי נפרד מהם. דווקא ההבנה שאנחנו זמניים נותנת לי שקט ותחושת קרבה לחיים.

כשאני רואה את התהליכים הטבעיים מתרחשים – צמיחה, בלייה, פירוק, הצטברות, פיזור וזרימה – אני נרגעת, משום שברור לי שהדברים מתקדמים במסלולם, כפי שהם צריכים להיות. אם אני מצליחה להסביר לעצמי למה צורה מסוימת היא כפי שהיא – למשל סלע שנשחק בידי מים או רוח – אני מרגישה שאני מבינה, ולו לרגע קטן, את הסיפור של החיים.

המטרה שלי היא לחבר אנשים לתופעות טבע שמרגשות אותי.

לעיתים זה נעשה באמצעות הפשטה, לעיתים בבידוד של חלק מתוך השלם, ולעיתים בהצעת אפשרויות נוספות להתפתחות החיים. לפעמים אני יוצאת מכיוון ברור ומחפשת את הצורה המדויקת שתהיה עבורי נכונה, מעניינת ואסתטית. אולי יש מידה של אידאליזציה בצורות שאני יוצרת, אבל הן תמיד נובעות ממקום של צניעות – לא לכפות עליהן יותר מדי פעולות, לתת לאסתטיקה להתהוות מתוך מעט, ולהימנע מעודף שעלול לקלקל.

האמנות בשבילי היא גם מקום להביע את הערכים שחשוב לי לחיות על פיהם: כבוד – לאחר, לעצמי, לזמן, למקום ולחומר. אני מאמינה שכבוד מוליד צניעות. הצורות שאני יוצרת הן ביטוי חומרי לערכים האלה. הן קצה מוחשי של רעיון, שיש לו עוד חלקים, עוד הסתעפויות, ועוד אפשרויות להתפתח.

For me, making is a way of giving space and a stage to the phenomena that move me. It is a basic need, like movement, speech, or a conversation with someone close.

As I move through the world, I gather forms that stir me: structures, rhythms, shadows and flickers. They settle in me and become part of me, and only later do I release them into a new work, in another medium. Observing phenomena that come from natural processes, and understanding them, gives me a sense of belonging: to life itself, to the flow of materials, and to the impermanence that is inseparable from them. It is precisely knowing that we are temporary that gives me calm and a closeness to life.

When I see natural processes at work (growth, erosion, decay, accumulation, dispersal and flow) I grow calm, because it is clear to me that things are moving along their path, as they should. If I can explain to myself why a certain form is the way it is, a rock worn by water or wind, for instance, I feel that I understand, if only for a moment, the story of life.

My aim is to connect people to the natural phenomena that move me.

Sometimes this happens through abstraction, sometimes by isolating a part of the whole, and sometimes by suggesting other ways life might develop. At times I set out in a clear direction and search for the exact form that feels right, interesting and beautiful to me. There may be some idealisation in the forms I make, but they always come from a place of modesty: not imposing too many actions on them, letting the aesthetic emerge from very little, and avoiding the excess that could spoil it.

Art is also where I express the values I want to live by: respect for others, for myself, for time, for place and for material. I believe respect gives rise to modesty. The forms I make are a material expression of these values, the tangible tip of an idea that has more parts, more branches, and more ways to grow.
